Antibiotic Drugs are used to cure or eliminate
certain forms of bacterial infections. They work by either destroying
bacteria or blocking their reproduction and spreading. Antibiotics must
be administered and used properly to help avoid the spread of antibiotic
resistance. This occurs when a bacterial strain no longer reacts to
treatment with one or more antibiotics. Antibiotic Drugs are often
prescribed only for more acute bacterial infections, since certain
infections resolve on their own. Antibiotics must be used correctly in
order to help mitigate antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics become less
successful as bacteria become immune to them over time.
